ABOUT US

GLOBAL STUDY SUPPORT (GSS) is a non-profit organization, based in Tokyo, established in 2009. Since then, we have shared many great experiences with children  parents, volunteers and GSS staffs! We keep our basic concept which created in 2009, and conduct new programs based on an educational concept of Positive Identity Development (POSID)*. ​

OUR MISSION
  1. To inspire the next generation who respect each other and make a peaceful world beyond differences.
  2. To support everyone to explore the world in their own way through our programs based on the theory of Positive Identity Development (POSID).

​*Positive Identity Development (POSID) is based on the research of "Positive Identity Development based on Culturally Responsive Pedagogy​" (Kawai, 2019) .

Satoko Kawai
POSID Educator, Co-
Founder​

Satoko believes that intercultural experiences lead children to create a harmonious world in their future, allowing them to look beyond differences. She has over 20-year experience organizing intercultural programs and oversea tours for children and developed GSS's educational programs, based on her research about Positive Identity Development. MA in Education at Portland State University.

Maarlie Wada
Program Director

Maarlie established her own company in the U.S. and runs several brand lines over 15 years. She organizes business seminars and consults for Japanese companies expanding their business in the global market. She also supports cultural activities at Harmony Club in San Jose and local schools through Sock Nation Project.

Mari Adachi
​Program Director, Co-Founder

​Mari worked for 27 years as a journalist as well as NY correspondent. She mainly wrote about global economy and business, and also reported on the financial market via Japanese TV news programs. She works as a journalist and currently teaches at two universities as a part-time professor. MBA at Hitotsubashi University.

Chizuko Aizawa
​Program Director of Kids Project​

​Chizuko worked in both Japanese and international companies and experienced many types of cultural differences. Her experiences in a diversity support her special interests in education and high motivation to provide variety of educational programs for children.
